"A Short Commentary on the Shema" is intended to assist in meditating on the FIRST (primary)commandment of the Old Testament. "Shema" means 'hear' or 'O hear'. The concept of hearing the Lord and obeying is a primary message of the book of Deuteronomy, bringing the concept of hearing the Lord's will and quickly obeying or doing it. This concept is central to spiritual growth, so it should be an important part of our devotions.
